In recent times the impact of global traumatic events such as COVID19, wars, economic crises and climate change have made the world an increasingly uncertain place for adults and young people. Everyone has been affected but there are some students, despite the best efforts of staff, who have not been able to settle to learn. They can present with challenging behaviour or seem disengaged, withdrawn and school avoidant. There has been a marked increase in mental health issues which educators are having to deal with. Staff report that they do not always feel equipped to recognize and deal with these.
This Trauma Responsive Educator 90-minute webinar is aimed at giving staff information and practical strategies for understanding the impact of trauma on learning and behaviour, as well as affirming what they already do well and recognising their own strengths in this area.
