If you play sport, you train. If you play a musical instrument, you practice. Practicing and training help you to perform better. If you go to college, you should be studying outside of your lectures and practical work. Studying works in the same way as practicing a musical instrument or training - studying will help you get better at college and will help you do better at exams.
