From the 21st of January to the 3rd of February 2024, two groups of Educators from Mayo Sligo Leitrim Education & Training Board (MSLETB), visited the city of Padua in North Italy to participate in a week-long transformative training course on “Innovating Teaching Technologies” funded by the EU under the Erasmus+ program. The groups included staff from the various apprenticeship and Back to Education programmes within MSLETB.
The programme explored cutting-edge teaching tools such as Storytelling, Outdoor Education, Gamification, and Escape Rooms to enhance the learning experience and participants gained hands-on experience with digital applications like EdPub Editor, ThingLink, Street View Download 360, and Google Forms. All these tools are accessible with a free or paid version with Google Forms available to all Gmail accounts.
The training explored diverse teaching methodologies and technologies, giving participants hands-on experience with state-of-the-art digital applications. The training will enhance the skills of the various educators and will bring the various technologies into the classroom and the workplace. It allowed a range of conversations amongst their peers, to take place on how it could be incorporated in their own classroom which was very beneficial.
The groups also engaged in cultural activities, including guided tours of Padua and the Museum of Nature and Man, rounding off the week with a day trip to Venice and the surrounding islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello.
