  • Give something up and leave it unfinished

  • Relating to education or scholarship

Access

  • Being able to approach or enter something or get and use files from a computer

Accessible

  • Something that's easy to access - especially for people who are disabled

Accommodate

  • To provide with something desired, needed, or suited

Accommodation

  • Something supplied for convenience or to satisfy a need

Accompany

  • To go somewhere with someone or things that happen together

Accumulation

  • The process of increasing the amount of something over time

Accurate

  • Correct, true or exact

Achieve

  • succeed in what you set out to do - reach your goal or milestone

Acknowledge

  •  Accept or admit that something is true - recognise the importance of something

Acquisition

  • Getting something, usually by buying it

Adaptation

  • The process of changing to fit (adapt to) a different situation

Adequate

  • Good enough

Adjacent

  • Next to or near

Adjustment

  • A usually small change made to something

Administration

  • The process of running and organising something - a business, government or any other kind of organisation

Adult

  • A person who is either age 18 years or older

Advocate

  • Publicly recommend or support - - one who publicly supports or recommends a particular cause or policy - one who speaks on behalf of others

Affect

  • have an effect on; make a difference to - touch the feelings of

Aggregate

  • (noun) several smaller amounts or totals added together (verb) to add different amountstogether and consider as a single amount

Aid

  • (noun) help or assistance given  (verb) to help or assist

Alarm

  • a signal that something needs attention or the device that makes the signal - a feeling of worry or fear

Albeit

  • even though - despite - although

Allocate

  • set something aside or plan to use it for a particular purpose

Alter

  • to make, usually, a small change to something

Alternative

  • different from what is usual, expected, or traditional

Ambiguous

  • more than one possible meaning, state, or explanation and therefore not clear

Amendment

  • a change to a piece of writing or a statement that corrects or clarifies it; also the process of making this change.

Analogous

  • like or is similar to

Analysis

  • The process of studying something carefully to understand it - or using statistical methods in order to understand or explain something

Annual

  • happening every year

Anticipate

  • take action to prepare for something that you think will happen - look forward to

Apparent

  •  easy to see, realise or understand - seeming real or true

Appendix

  • A section at the end of an article or book that has extra information

Appreciate

  • understand the value or qualities of something - feel thankful - increase in value

Approach

  • (noun) a method of doing something or dealing with a problem  (verb) move near or closer to something - a request

Appropriate

  • (adjective) matching the situation - suitable or acceptable (verb) take something that doesn't belong to you without permission

Approximate

  • a number, time, position etc. that is close to a given number ,time, position etc but not to equal to it

Arbitrary

  • based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or system
