Check your privacy and security settings on your social media accounts and make sure they are set up the way you want them and not just using the default.

Make sure that you are using a secure and unique password for each of your accounts -remember, never share passwords with friends or forget to log out of your account if you are using a shared device. Password managers are a good way of managing your passwords in a safe manner.
Have you deleted social media accounts that you no longer use?
Keep in mind that once you’ve posted something, you’ve posted it and it could be shared again without your knowledge.
Be careful about what you are sharing and remember you may prefer to keep some personal information personal even if it is just your location. For example, have you switched off geo-tagging of your photos on your social media sites?
Think about what you post and in particular what you post about others – set yourself a code of conduct.
There are lots of links shared on social media and also advertising and promoted sites – be careful what you are clicking on and if you’re not sure then just don’t click! Don’t be tempted by ‘clickbait’ ads which usually start with ‘You’ll be astonished to see what XXX looks like now...” or similar.
Do you check that you are using a secure website when you make online purchases and use a secure payment option? If in doubt don’t enter your details.
Know where to report and get help with cyber-bullying or online harassment in the event that you encounter this negative behaviour and use only social media you trust and feel comfortable with.
