To search the consumer data, simply use the search bar on the top left side of the page.
After searching, Mintel provides you with two sets of results: report titles and questions. Questions are the specific questions asked consumers as part of Mintel's research.
Another means of looking through consumer data is to us the filters available on the left hand side of the page. This can be used in conjunction with the search bar. You can filter by:
Filters with a plus symbol (+) next to them, allow you to further refine the results by subcategory or country. Simply click the plus symbol to see more specific filtering options.
Use the 'clear search results' option found above 'report titles' to deselect all filters and remove your search term.
When you find a report or question of interest, simply click it and it will open in a new tab. Mintel allows you to view and interact with the consumer data in a number of ways.
Switch between the questions asked consumers using the dropdown menu at the top of the screen.
To find out what the exact wording of the question asked to consumers, click the blue link under the question title.
This also provides additional information such as when the question was asked and to how many people.
The consumer data can be viewed as either graphs or as a table. Click the 'Graph' or 'Table' option at the top of the screen to change the display. When viewing the data as tables, you can switch between 'Counts', which show the number of respondents, or percentages.
Some questions allow you to filter the results. This might be useful if you are only interested in how many people responded a particular way to a question. This is only available when viewing the data as graphs. Simply click the coloured buttons above the graph to filter.
You can download and share both the entire databook or specific question. To download the entire databook, click the down arrow on the right side of the screen. This will download the consumer data as an Excel file.
To share, click the symbol comprised of three small circles above the download button. The share option allows you to email a link to the databook to yourself, a colleague or learner. Please note that they will need the login information for Mintel to access it.
To download and share the data from a specific question, simply click the 'download table' and 'share link' buttons above the graph or table.
You can view and analyse the demographics of consumers who make up the dataset. Click on the 'Explore Demographics' button at a specific question. This opens up a new tab.
You can switch between questions or view specific sets of demographics by using the dropdown menu at the top of the screen. Filter by specific demographics using the dropdown menu below.
You can highlight numbers where there is a 'true difference' between values. Simply turn on significance testing at the top of the screen. This will highlight figures in purple. Many questions will not have any significant values. If you are struggling to find a significant value, it will most likely be mentioned in the report that the databook is from.
