Popup windows can be either very annoying or very useful depending on the nature of the popup. Like the name implies, popup windows are small boxes of pictures and text that appear on top of the screen you are currently viewing.
Useful popup windows usually appear after you have clicked on something on the page you are viewing.. If you're using an app, clicking on a help button or link might open a popup window. In web browsers popup windows are more likely to be advertisements. Advertising popups usually appear without warning and can be very annoying. Your web browser will have a setting tat will let you block all popup windows. There are also special apps called adblockers that will block adverts from appearing in your web browser
