Video Interactions
An interaction is a teaching aid that you can add to a video, to turn video watching into an active, rather than passive, experience. There are nine different interactions and some customisation is available:
- Multiple choice questions: gives learners different options to choose from in response to a question. This can also be used to present a true/false question type.
- Check all: Present learners with a series of options to choose from in response to a question. This question type can have multiple correct answers, and students are asked to select all correct answers.
- Free response: Allow learners to demonstrate understanding with a free text response.
- Fill-in-the-blank: Present learners with a phrase that is missing one or more words. Questions can have multiple blanks and multiple correct answers.
- Reflective pause: Give learners the opportunity to pause and reflect on video content. Alternatively, use this question type to supplement information that is not covered in the video, or make connections between the video content and other course material.
- Poll: Present learners with a series of options to choose from in response to a question. Learners can only choose one option or multiple options, and there is no right or wrong answer.
- Discussion forum: Simulate an interactive discussion with this question type. Learners can post responses in real time and/or reply to comments posted by other students.
- Table of contents: Can be used to create an outline of a video and point learners to a specific timestamp within a video.
Creating a new interaction is similar to creating a video clip. Select the Interactions in the main header
Select 'Create a new interaction'
Then click on 'Add new interaction'. You can change the timestamp where the interaction appears.
Choose the type of interaction you wish to add
Start typing your question and answers.
When you're finished, select Done or choose to customise the placement of the interaction and or the time in the video at which it appears.
