You need a username and password to access ebooks on this platform. As well as access to the platform, an account lets you:
Your account is associated with a Bookshelf. Access it via the link on the menu bar on the top right of any page
Click the link and you will see a page like this
The first column controls what you see in the second column. You can choose to look at:
The second column contains the details of the books you have downloaded, looked at or annotated
The third column allows you to sort books in your bookshelf by title, author, year published or by publisher. There is also a set of 4 buttons:
Read book online
Table of contents
Create a citation for your referencing (select Harvard if prompted to choose). This is the digital library's referencing section
More options - these are
Export notes and bookmarks to a text file
Copy the book web address
Copy the book to another folder
Remove the book from this folder
You can organize your books into as folders. Your bookshelf comes with a Research folder and you can add more folders as you need them. If you have more than one folder, you'll see them in the first column.
There is a separate set of buttons for folder management.
Create a link to the current folder. You can share this link with other eBook Central users
Send an email with folder details (the books in the folder)
Export folder details as a file (a csv file, which you can open in Excel)
Create a reference list of the books in the folder (select Harvard when prompted)
You can change a small number of platform and account settings
You can also change the language of the platform (but not the ebooks!)
