The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has overall responsibility for the administration and enforcement of health and safety at work in Ireland. Embedding Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) education across all levels of learning and fostering OSH awareness among future workers is a key strategic priority for the HSA.
The HSA offer a range of programmes and resources for both students and teachers in Further Education and Training in Ireland.
The Choose Safety Programme is a free programme available to post-primary schools and colleges of Further Education. It introduces senior cycle students/students in further education to the principles of workplace safety and health.
The OSHVET Project promotes occupational safety and health (OSH) to teachers and students in vocational education across Europe. This project is led by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA). The project was launched in Ireland by the Health and Safety Authority and Galway Technical Institute (GTI) in February 2024.
