As part of September's focus on Artificial Intelligence: A Practical Approach for Teaching & Learning, ETBI's FET PL&D Hub partnered with Dr Keith Quille who is Senior Lecturer in the School of Enterprise Computing and Digital Transformation in TU Dublin to deliver an interactive and engaging AI webinar. Please find here a link to the recording of the webinar and a link to Keith's slides.
The aim of the session was to provide valuable insights into how we can adapt to and embrace these emerging technologies in our educational practices.
Keith began his session by exploring recent advancements in the use of large language models, such as ChatGPT and how they work to reduce misconceptions about their capabilities, and their implications for education. He then reviewed the latest EU guidelines on the use of AI and data in education and training, discussing how these regulations will influence our teaching practices and the positive applications of AI tools for both educators and students. Finally, he considered strategies for effectively integrating these new tools into our teaching methods, including the potential benefits of approaches like open-book exams and assessments.
